Cava Mezze Grill, new quick Greek spot, opening very soon on 14th

I just heard from a spokesperson that Cava Mezze Grill, a Mediterranean fast casual spot coming to 3105 14th Street NW, is undergoing their final inspections and hope to open very soon. We first heard about them in April, when they took over the location of Radiance MedSpa.

The restaurant looks almost done too, signs are up, fixtures are in, and most of the seating seems to be in place. There looks to be a few dozen seats at the spot, which is kind of a Greek Chipotle -- basically you pick a base, like pita, bowl, mini pitas or salad, then protein (chicken, grilled meatballs, lamb, beef or falafel), then Greek toppings like hummus, tzatziki, and so on, and then veggies. Here's the full menu -- sounds pretty tasty. They also try to use actual Greek or local ingredients, and the meat is hormone- and antibiotic-free. And they'll have beer and wine.

The place is not to be confused with the similarly-named Cava Mezze, which is owned by the same folks but is more of a fancy sit-down place. In fact, Cava Mezze was named one of Washingtonian's top 100 restaurants, so that's a good sign.

I'm looking forward to it! You?
