Here's where you can buy fireworks in DC! Two stands in our area

The 4th of July is upon us, and that means cookouts, hot weather, and fireworks -- fireworks everywhere, not just on the Mall.

It's my opinion that a rooftop in Columbia Heights is the best place in the world to see 4th of July fireworks, because you can see the main display, displays at towns around the area, and a ton of DIY displays all around our neighborhood. Anywhere you look you'll see something going on -- it's fun, it's communal, and it's explosive.

You can buy some fireworks in DC, though not the ones that shoot in the area and explode, and I contacted DCRA to get the list of where they are -- see below.

In our area that's 3700 New Hampshire (corner of Georgia, at the Petworth Metro) and 4140 Georgia (at Upshur). Here's the full list below:

UPDATE: there are two stands not listed: 14th and Otis and Georgia and Newton.

There is also one that is at 14th and Newton. I have once again written to Brianne Nadeau to express my concern about the sale of fireworks in the city, which is both a safety concern and quality of life issue for those who have to endure them going off for several nights. Residents will illegally close nearby blocks for unpermitted block parties and cause general mayhem. It is is only a matter of time that there is a serious injury or death of a child before the Council will realize that the sale of fireworks throughout the city is unsafe. I recognize that this is a minority view, but feel it is crucial to express my concern.

Agree. Fireworks and firework sales are out of control in DC. Unclear why no one addresses this issue.

I don't agree, I think the DIY fireworks in the city are one of the best things about the 4th.

I always wonder if the people who complain about DC fireworks are from here or have come from elsewhere. I have lived in this city all my life and we never had these discussions til more people starting locating here from elsewhere or maybe its because I live in Gloverpark for past 10 years and not in PG MD or in southeast? I just wish my white neighbor with the fluffy dog would stop evil eyeing me. She has seen me go to work, home and gym and back. Probably thinks I'm selling crack but how does she view my white husband? Lol. Sorry, I trailed off. Happy 4th!

Just because these discussions haven't happened doesn't mean they should never happen. FTR- I can see both sides of this issue and am agnostic.

@Anonymous 2:00am, way to make an issue of race for no reason. Bravo.

@Anonymous 2:00am, it sounds like you are very insecure. Do you want to drop any other racial/gender/etc labels while you are at it?
