Earthquake! Spot any damage in the neighborhood?

So yeah, that happened. Did anybody spot any damage in the neighborhood? Twitter user @CitizenCassidy posted this picture of the Mt. Rona Baptist Church at 13th and Monroe, looks like some bricks fell off. I also noticed a few cracks in the plaster or paint at my place.

There were also untrue reports of looting and even that the roof fell in at Target, but those were obviously by people with nothing better to do.

Interesting times we live in.

UPDATE: Apparently there was roof damage at DCUSA, but the roof did not fall in. It's back open.

  1. It would appear there was some roof damage to the Best Buy in DCUsa, so people were probably just mixing up their facts by saying the damage was in Target: http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Damage-Reports-Around-the-Area-128263793.html

  2. NPR reported this morning that the pool at wsc overflowed and that there was damage to target and best buy. The former was able to reopen last night but it was unclear when best buy would open. I guess NPR is reliable right?

  3. Ok, fair enough, but somebody tweeted that the roof collapsed. Sounds like that's an exaggeration.

  4. Euclid is completely roped off with Caution tape between University and 16th - I could see a cop car in the middle of it, and some construction vehicles that looked like they were involved in cleanup. Bricks fell off the top of the Ecuadoran embassy (15th & Euclid), but it seems weird to close off entire blocks just because of that.

  5. Best Buy was closed until noon today. I didn't go in, but I saw sections of it were sectioned off with plastic this afternoon.

  7. I talked to a cop at 15th and Euclid. She said bricks continue to fall off the Ecuadorian embassy. Until they have it fixed, they're keeping the streets barricaded (so, Euclid is totally shut down between University & 16th and 15th is still blocked at Euclid....suggest taking 16th or 14th instead of 15th until they clear everything).
