How was your 4th?

Good I hope! I firmly believe that our neighborhood and the surrounding ones are the best places to watch 4th of July fireworks in the entire world -- you can see the Mall show, people come together, and there are tons of random people shooting off everything in all directions. I'm a fan.

How was watching it from Meridian Hill Park or Cardozo High School? Any other good spots?

The roof of the Highland Park apartments was packed, but offered great views of the whole city.

We live in a small condo building. Almost everyone else was away, so we had a great time cooking out, eating, and enjoying our amazing private view on our rooftop deck! There were some serious fireworks going off in the alley behind our building. I saw the bike cops take away a HUGE box of fireworks, but they still had enough to go on until 1am. Our cat spent the night in the interior bathroom with all his worldly possessions. He thought it was either the end times, or a tornado. Either way, he was ready. There's a part of me that wants to join him and freak out all night, but at a certain point, the little kid in me takes over and trusts the universe.
