How bad are the pretzels at Target?

Something I've always noticed at Target is the random little snack bar, with pretzels and (crummy) pizza.

The pretzels always stand out to me, because they look terrible. They look fake, but they aren't. They remind me of the plastic food that restaurants, bakeries and such use as examples of what you can get, or something kids use when they're playing house.

Has anyone tried them? I'm afraid to.

  1. They actually are fake. If you order a pretzel they pull it out from the freezer in the back and toss it in the microwave for you. Not that that's a good thing.

  2. Actually, those pretzels are probably fake; it's standard Target practice (um, no pun intended) to use plastic mockups in the display case and keep the actual pretzels behind the counter.

(It's something that's caused no small amount of amusement in other blogs, whenever a Target store puts up sign indicating "OUT OF PRETZELS TODAY" when there clearly appear to be "pretzels" in the display case.)

I can't speak for whether their real pretzels are good, tho.

  3. Wow, that's odd. You'd think they'd at least make the displays look appetizing. Those look terrifying.
