Dentist, not liquor store, coming to 14th and Girard

Yesterday I wrote that there was a rumor about a liquor store coming to the Heights of Columbia building at 14th and Girard, the building with the Dunkin Donuts. I just received an email from the development team, who said the second open retail spot will actually be a dentist's office.

Maybe not the most exciting retail option, but it's good to have something useful in there.

A liquor store is very useful. I understand - though disagree - with people who don't want to live near one, but it's clearly useful. NIMBYism is a curse.

Agreed. I meant useful versus something we already have tons of, like another dry cleaners or something.

This is a joke. An "urgent care center" and now a "dentist office". These will only cater to the subsidized population that lives around that area. I am sure that the DC gov't (with your taxes) pays for the health care for these Section 8's that is why these offices are opening up. Why not an abortion office.

Wow Anonymous, why don't you tell everyone how you really feel.

how does an urgent care center and a dentist office only cater to the subsidized population?? Do you not get your teeth cleaned? do you not want somewhere to go if you have an accident? Dude you're a moron
BTW, there's the same urgent care center in Dupont, so I guess there must be lots of poor ppl there too

wow, anonymous. Do "urgent care center" and "dentist office" get quotes b/c they're not real establishments, since they may serve lower income residents?

anonymous 12:22 is a racist asshole.

I'm happy about dentist and doctor's offices opening. It's a good new addition. I recall when that was a vacant lot. This is a big improvement over that.

I met a guy named Kyle today who was working inside. He is the husband of the dentist, he does the back-end business part of things for her. This is her second or third office in DC, and he says it will not be walk-in but more like a normal dental practice. He plans a direct mailing so watch your mailboxes if you're in the area. Expects to open early in November.
My reconnaissance here is done!
