The 14th and Irving CVS is renovated, now has sandwiches and salads

Not exactly Earth-shattering news, but when I walked into the CVS this weekend and was confused, as everything was rearranged. They widened some aisles, moved the cold drinks to the side of the store, opened more self-checkout lanes (thank goodness) also now carry premade salads and sandwiches.

CVS: Classin' it up!
Hopefully I won't have to wait in line for 20 minutes to pick up my prescriptions anymore...

...and still ghetto as fnck with tellers who would rather finish their personel convo's then ring you up. oh and self check-out machines that never work!

Yeah, they've cut the amount of space for live cashiers in half (not that all those positions were ever staffed anyway) in order to add two more self checkout machines to the two they already had. So they have shifted the emphasis from live help to self-checkout, no doubt in order to cut staff and save money.

The only reason the self checkout machines are ever faster is because not many people used them -- now customers are being steered towards them. Two out of four of the machines never work, and the other two -- people using them either don't have a clue how to use them, or the machines are hanging up (for example every time you want to buy cough syrup a CVS employee has to come authorize it).

Bottom line -- it was hard to make checking out of CVS any worse, but they have managed to do just that.
