Murals to prevent graffiti program restarts

The MuralsDC program, which offers murals to commercial property owners free of charge to cover graffiti, is in its third year. The program involves local youth, who do the painting and learn about art, and the ideas for the murals are chosen through discussions with property owners and neighbors. Local artists help design and supervise.

It's a pretty neat program, and if you're interested in it or want to learn more, check out their website. A number of the murals are in our neighborhood, including one at Georgia and Fairmont and another in the 3900 block of 14th Street NW.

The program has been featured in the Post and BBC News.
