Bike From Work rally Friday at the Civic Plaza

This Friday, May 21, is DC's Bike to Work Day, and the organizers have put together an afternoon rally, called Bike From Work, in the Civic Plaza.

Going from 4 to 7 pm, there will be free food from Giant, giveaways, limited tune-ups from City Bikes, and more. They've also invited the mayor, councilmember Jim Graham, bicycle police officers, and more. Sounds pretty cool.

Bike-to-Work day is cool, but people should be aware of bicycle safety. Every year on Bike-to-Work Day, I hear about another a-hole who forgot to signal and got their genitals crunched by a escalade or something. If its been awhile since you biked, please brush up on your bike safety. Especially the turn signals. Hope they spend 30 minutes or so at this rally just reminding people of their responsibilities, which include not riding and drinking. Its cool if you want to go to Hung Jury, just sober up for a few moments before you head out.

....umm, the blogger needs to moderate some these comments. I don't appreciate the profanes in Dr. le Fanu's comment. This is a family blog - keep it clean.

Everyday is bike to and from work day. Given climate change is among us, what we really need is a "More and fancier showers at the office" day.
