14th and U Farmers Market opens this weekend

For those who can't wait until June 5 for the Columbia Heights Community Marketplace, the 14th and U Farmers Market opens on Saturday from 9 to 1.

Here's more from the Columbia Heights listserve:
Just a sample of what the farmers are bringing:

There will be lots of green and purple asparagus, kale, yellow and red swiss chard, watercress, arugula, lettuces, salad mixes, spring onions, spinach, tender young collards, beets, radishes, lots of herbs -- and even nettles to make French nettle soup (wear your gloves cutting them up). Green Garlic for pesto. Apple Cider, rhubarb, Asian pears, sunchokes, Goldrush, Fuji, Pink Lady and Braeburn Aples, Red Raspberry and Apple jam
There will also pork, beef, goat and lamb, plus eggs, cheese, pies, breads, jams, and flowers. I'm getting hungry.

They have a Facebook page too.
