Columbia Heights Heritage Trail opens this weekend

The Columbia Heights Heritage Trail, which I've written about a couple times before, has an unveiling ceremony this Saturday at the Civic Plaza, plus guided tours leaving from various stops along the way. Here's the rundown of all the events from Cultural Tourism DC, plus a news story from WJLA on it.

I think this is a great thing for the neighborhood, as many folks living here haven't been in the area for very long, and I bet even some people who have might not know some things about the history.

The events sound pretty cool too: jazz, hip hop, drumming, and specials from local businesses and such -- deals at local restaurants, free samples from CommonWealth, free pedometers, info on Columbia Heights Day, etc.

Our neighbors at the Park View DC blog also wrote about the trail. If you like local history, here are some history posts I've written. And below is a map of the trail. Click it for a bigger version.
