Abandoned house on 13th Street under construction

House work

I love it when a plan comes together. 3004 13th Street NW, one of the first houses in the Abandoned House Watch series, is finally getting fixed up. The place was gutted awhile ago and now it's getting a roof and other work.

Always good to see when an abandoned house gets fixed up -- both because it takes away a potentially dangerous place that could harbor crime (drugs etc), adds more folks to the neighborhood, and comes back on the tax rolls.

If only we could get 3528 bought and rebuilt... maybe if they tried putting a remotely reasonable price on it. Of course with the kind of shape that's in, it might be more cost-effective to rip it down and start fresh.

I can't wait to see the finish product, here is a link to the end result. The rowhouse will be converted into a three unit condo building, each unit will have 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, the developer has developed several units in the area.
