Want to volunteer in the neighborhood?

Feel like doing something good in the hood? Greater DC Cares, an organization which places volunteers with local non-profits, is is looking to get more volunteers in the Columbia Heights area. Here's their website, click on Volunteers or read more about them. Interested folks can also check out their new blog, which has contact info.

Know of any other volunteer opportunities in the hood? Capitol Letters is a good one, for example.

  1. I currently tutor at CentroNia on 14th and Columbia and I know they always are looking for new tutors. There are a lot of work-study college students, and having other volunteers actually from Columbia Heights is always welcome. They have weeknight and Saturday morning options
