Sticky Fingers wins vegan award

Sticky Fingers Bakery won the "best vegan desserts" category of the recent VegDC Three Green Stars competition, decided by reader votes. Pretty cool for the locals. I like their coffee drinks, pretty solid. The desserts are a little too sweet for me - what I've had, at least. Anybody have any favorite things there?

Sticky Fingers is at 1370 Park Road NW.

Okay, yes, the Cowvin Cookie is bliss. It's an oatmeal sandwich cookie that you must try!

I don't get desserts there too frequently, but I remember liking the carrot-walnut cake. I'm a bit addicted to the normal, english-muffin breakfast sandwich. For lunch items, the BBQ seitan is tasty.

How much competition do they have for vegan desserts?

In kinda-response to anon, I find myself forgetting whether Asylum offers vegan desserts on top of all the other vegan grub. Anyone know?

you can definitely find vegan desserts around town -- cakelove, busboys & poets, java green.... Sticky Fingers is the best though -- I recommend the sticky bun for anyone who hasn't had their stuff before. Heat it up a bit in the microwave and WOW. Cowvin cookie is also amazing.

adam,

asylum used to offer cake and other vegan desserts (mostly from sticky fingers), but stopped nearly a year ago. they do serve lots of vegan food though. i think they still have vegan hap hour on tuesdays; a discount on the second vegan entree.

I gotta disagree. It once took them 15 minutes to make a latte and hot choclate, and I was the only dude in the shop ordering. It might by tasty, but it's not for those in a hurry.
