Columbia Heights Coffee

It's small but cozy inside with a good atmosphere, with lots of magazines and newspapers, and there are some outdoor tables. There's also a lot of community stuff inside, postcards, events, etc - it seemed more neighborhoody than your usual coffee shop.

The coffee was good (and I usually can't tell if coffee is good or bad) and the bagel with lox was excellent. I lingered for awhile in one of the inside tables then lingered for awhile longer outside, and it was great - nice and peaceful with good people watching. I recommend it highly.

Columbia Heights Coffee is at 3416 11th St NW. Here's their Yelp page.

I went there for the first time this weekend too and loved the place. I overhead someone saying it was expanding next door...anyone know if this true?

do they have an explicit policy against junkpunching, like big bear does here in bloomingdale? :)

Yes, it is true that they are planning to expand. I am not quite sure why it is taking so long though. You can probably find a story on their plans on Prince of Petworth archives somewhere. Or maybe even the largely dead site Columbiaheightsnews.com (more likely you can find something on its forum that is kept alive by people like us).

Btw, New Columbia Heights seems in a good position to take over as the best source for news etc. about CH.

I'll ask them about it, and thanks gforgood!

I had asked them about it a month or so ago and apparently they are still going to expand but that they are dealing with permit issues. Seems they are dealing with red tape now but hopefully not too much longer...

Do they have free wi-fi?

Yea, props for getting this blog up. The old CH News site has a hopping forum, but the news itself is good as dead. Hope you guys can keep us up to date on all the happenings in CH.
